Getting Back To Basic

It’s already a whole new year. I used to have lots of goals on my list. But somehow this year hits different. I want to laid back and focus to the basic things. Making sure I do it right and following on the things that really give me result.

Every year, I aim to have some new things that I do to change my health. Things like:

  • Sleep at 10 pm
  • Morning yoga
  • Evening Pilates
  • Afternoon tea break
  • Weekend Detox
  • Daily various healthy drink
  • Intermittent fasting 3x a week
  • And many others.

I used to be very creative on making new things to do each year. The last few years however I have been focusing more, maybe even too much, on my health. But instead of getting better result, I overwhelmed myself. I started taking muay thai class, do intermittent fasting, try different set of healthy drinks and tried several types of diet. There are moments where I feel great. My body seemed to be leaner and I got so much energy.

But the thing about doing too much is that you also have a hard time to follow throughwith ALL of them. Even when everything starts at a good deal for you and your health. Life just happens. You get busy sometimes and that’s when you realize that you need to break off some prior engagement that you already made with yourself. Even worse is, with doing so many things at once, I failed to recognize which ones that makes the difference.

So, this year the theme is getting back to basic. Things that I sometimes still hard to follow through like sleep, exercise and eating healthy food. I manage to cut down my list of activities that are just too demanding, especially when life gets hectic. Things like making myself various healthy drink, experimenting on the diets which are great when you have the time and energy to do them all CONSISTENTLY. Yes, I write in capitalized letter just to make sure you don’t miss that. Consistency is important and I can’t stress enough of how big the changes that can happen when you are being consistent. But that is the challenge, isn’t it? Being consistent is a problem to almost everyone. That is why only few can see result. Which it doesn’t have to be that way when you know how to do it in a way that works for you. Be mindful that this can be very different to different people. But, based on my own experience I decide to simplify my list of healthy activities.

Here are the BASIC Things that I plan for myself this year:

  • 15 minutes of Morning Yoga
  • Sleep at 10 pm
  • Get afternoon tea break
  • Take daily multivitamin (To simplify, I switch to daily vitamins that contain almost what I need to comply with micronutrients need)

Honestly, it’s hard to cut the list this short. But I know that the magic hapens only when I’m being consistent. So if being consistent means that I need to make the list short, than short list it is.

Now, here a simple question for you.

What have been working well for you laste year in your health and what not?

Have you also been overwhelmed with keeping yourself healthy? Why is that?
